A Waxing Whirlwind!

It’s getting down to the wire! I must finish my 30 art pieces by Monday, November 7. This afternoon, after a day of teaching, I waxed it up high-adrenalin style! I created quickly, not looking back, not trying to perfect anything. I even allowed a butterfly to flit into the wax when I wasn’t looking. What a process of letting go of the end result. My cats could even feel the creative whirlwind, for they were dashing this way and that as I created, often chasing one another, tails flicking and twitching.

Here are the six pieces I created in two hours this afternoon. Whew — I’m tired!

Cure for Perfectionism

Cure for Bad Dreams

Cure for Feeling Like a Victim

Cure for Lost Wings

Cure for Unattended Sorrows

Cure for Negative Body Image

About Courtney Putnam

I first came to healing work through art and writing. Creating collage art and poetry in particular allowed me to deeply understand the benefit of self-expression in the healing process. But, I also began to see the benefit of bodywork (manual work in the form of massage and energywork in the form of Reiki) as keys to unlocking the emotional stresses we hold in our bodies. I became a Reiki practitioner in 2002, received an MFA in Creative Writing in 2003, received my massage license in the spring of 2006, and became a Reiki Master in 2010. In my practice I bring together these three areas -- the body, the mind, and the spirit (or energy body) -- so others may experience profound and positive change in their lives.

  1. I love your work so much! 🙂 The colors in Cure for Lost Wings are so soft and beautiful – I can almost smell the spring day where the butterfly would be fluttering.

  2. Thank you! I can smell that spring day, too!
