“There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.”
― Leonard Cohen, Selected Poems, 1956-1968
I love the Cohen quote above because, to me, he speaks to the ways in which imperfection is key to illumination. The cracks are the imperfections that allow us to change and grow. Without our shortcomings, weaknesses, challenges, and failings we remain static. By letting the light in, we are brightening the shadow side of ourselves. When we are vulnerable and honest with ourselves by admitting where we fall short, light pours in.
What could be a lighthouse for you right now? What would allow you to accept the lamp light of insight? What imperfections can you lovingly acknowledge to yourself as an act of forwarding your momentum for personal growth?
